movies
and
music.
This
led

him
developing

drive

absorb
as
much
of
it
as
possible,
but
also
to
create
it
himself. After graduating with a B.A. Degree from Stellenbosch University in the early '90s, Paul attended film school. From there he has been on the independent route ever since. From the late 1980s he's been: > involved with various bands and personal musical projects, incl. V.O.D / Terminatryx / F8 / K.O.B.U.S. / The Makabra Ensemble / Isobel, compiling the historic Kopskoot! album, executive producer on Ingrid Jonker tribute compilation ; > created & run several film festivals (South African HorrorFest / Sound On Screen / Celludroid / The X Fest / Daring Doccies / Cinemaniacs) ; > has been a bilingual entertainment journalist covering movies, music & gaming since 1997 - published in local magazines (incl. SL, Stage, Top Forty, Muse, LMG, Something Wicked, BPM, Screen Africa) & syndicated newspapers and supplements (incl. The Star, The Argus, Die Burger, Son, JIP, Sunday Life), to international publications (incl. Fangoria Magazine - USA and Devolution - UK), and on-line locations like ComingSoon.net (USA), Mahala etc. ; > cinema and home entertainment promotion via all these channels ; > makes movies / music videos (incl. production / directing / editing) ; > created, designed & run several websites (incl. Flamedrop.com / ShadowRealm Inc.) ; > been involved with collaborative photographic projects (Desert Storm / Beautiful People) ; > created Flamedrop Productions in 2000 to encompass all of these and forthcoming activities ; > created The Horrorfest YouTube channel ; > currently in production on the ALTERnatives music documentaries, three movies telling the story of South Africa's alternative music scene ; > TEFL certified Paul lives in Cape Town with his wife and collaborator Sonja Ruppersberg, and their two chihuhahuas.
